The Emergency Bandage invented by Bernard Bar-Natan is more commonly known as the Israeli Bandage. It is carried by all NATO troops amongst others and is an excellent addition to any Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK) for pockets, bags, motorbikes and cars. It is designed to deal with heavy bleeding. Rather than applying pads, bandage and some kind of fixing, the Israeli Bandage comes complete in a sterile vacuum pack. It is sold in 4 and 6 inch sizes and is long enough to treat wounds and apply compression to the limbs, head or torso. They cost less than €10 each and have a shelf-life of several years.
